Building a foundation for the champions of tomorrow

About Tommy

Tommy Lazzaro grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he attended Pine Creek High School and excelled both academically and athletically. A gifted football player, Tommy was a proud member of the Pine Creek High School team that captured the Colorado State Championship in 2013 and 2014. After graduating, he continued his education and athletic career at Central Michigan University, serving as the starting quarterback and earning a bachelor’s degree in business. His leadership on the field helped guide CMU to the 2019 MAC Championship.

After college, Tommy followed his passion for service and joined the United States Army, where he became a member of the elite 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne). A skilled and dedicated soldier, Tommy completed rigorous training, including the Special Forces Qualification Course as a Weapons Sergeant and the Manned Portable Stinger Missile Operator Course. His contributions to his Operational Detachment Alpha (ODA) were instrumental, enabling the team to complete over 32 live-fire exercises, including joint operations with Ecuadorian Commandos and Tier 1 police personnel. He also played a key role in organizing and executing major training initiatives, including a 100-mile Appalachian Trail trek in just four days.

Tommy’s dedication, humility, and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was deeply loved by his family, including his parents, Thomas A. Lazzaro III and Lisa A. Lazzaro; his sister, Lexie Lazzaro; and his fiancée, Kaley Lynch. His legacy of excellence and service will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.

THE TLF MISSION

At the Tommy Lazzaro Foundation, we are dedicated to empowering the next generation of athletes by providing mentorship, coaching, and access to transformative athletic programs. Inspired by the life-changing impact that guidance and support had on Thomas’ journey—from athlete to soldier—we strive to create opportunities for young talents to thrive, regardless of their circumstances.

Our mission is to focus specifically on underprivileged youth and high school athletes, equipping them with the skills development and scouting connections they need to succeed on the field, in the classroom, and in life. By addressing the barriers these young athletes face, we aim to unlock their potential and provide a pathway to success.

Together, we are building a foundation of character, discipline, and opportunity for the champions of tomorrow – ensuring every young athletic talent has a chance to achieve their dreams.

“The truly great leader overcomes all difficulties, and campaigns and battles are nothing but a long series of difficulties to be overcome… the real leader displays his quality in his triumphs over adversity, however great it may be.”

– General of the Army George C Marshall, and former Secretary of State & Secretary of Defense
